ABOUT
We spend a large part of our lives at work. Thus, a pleasant working environment is essential for our well-being. That's why Andreas Frank founded Offício Cowork Tomar. To offer freelancers, companies and employees in home office a place where they can work productively and creatively.
Andreas is a freelance journalist and already knew the advantages of a coworking space, from previous experience in Germany. What he particularly appreciates about coworking spaces is the opportunity to exchange ideas with others, socialize and separate work from private life. All this is hardly possible working from home. In Portugal, it was clear to him that he wanted to go back to use a coworking space.
However, he quickly realized that there is no such place in the Tomar area. Especially, there is no space where his dog Lotta is welcome. That's how the idea of creating his own coworking space arose. A place where people find an inspiring environment to work.
He found this place in the center of Tomar: in a historic building with rooms flooded with light and high ceilings: The ideal place to let thoughts wander and new ideas and companies can emerge.
A place for new ideas and companies
With the help of friends and family, he adapted the space to have the ideal working conditions: he built a meeting room and prepared a kitchenette. So a space took shape that is prepared to not just receive Andreas, but also other freelancers, self-employed workers, start-ups and employees. At a price that only covers costs and with no intention of making profit. The users find an environment with everything they need for working: desk, internet, printer, meeting room, storage space and a small kitchen to have coffee or heat food and make meals.
The coworking space can be used flexibly. Users can rent a fixed table for daily use, or just a few days a week. It's also possible to use the coworking space just for a few days or a week - ideal for tourists or freelancers on the go. In addition, the coworking space can be also reserved for events such as exhibitions, workshops or lectures.
The doors of the space first opened in January 2020. Just before Covid forced the world to avoid contact and stay at home. In short, it was not the best time to start a coworking space. Today, the coworking space is sought-after by freelancers and young companies, as well as by tourists and digital nomads who spend a few days or even months in the caravan park in Tomar.
